EKITI RE-RUN: RE-DEPLOYMENT OF SOLDIERS – SPEAKER BANKOLE IS AGENT PROVOCATEUR.

The highly confused PDP in Ekiti State has again embarked on desperate means to achieve their heinous goal.

We wish to inform the good people of Ekiti State not to be intimidated by the threat made by the Speaker, House of Representative, Mr. Dimeji Bankole during their fag-off campaign at the weekend in Igede Ekiti for the re-run election in Ekiti that Soldiers would be deploy to Ekiti to intimidate the electorates during the re-run election.

It is an outburst or threat borne out of inexperience as a politician and youthful exuberance. We know his anti-democratic involvement in the Ogun State political crisis, he should not import such to Ekiti State.

Speaker Bankole should go and read the history of election in Nigeria and he will be inform not to make such an anti-democratic statement. His tirade and unguarded utterance is unwarranted and unbecoming of a public officer of the caliber of Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when no state is at war with each other.

He is just an opportunist that does not know what it entails to restore the democracy. If he had experience the brutality or being sentenced to jail during the military junta regime, he would not have come to Ekiti and be promoting the use of Soldier in a democratic set up.

If election had been held in Kogi, Adamawa, Cross River, Bayelsa and Sokoto States without the use of military troops, why is it that Soldiers would be deploy for an election re-run in just 64 wards.
It is an attempt to rig and impose unpopular candidate on the people of Ekiti State. It is an attempt to subject the hapless people to brutality by the use of Soldiers.

Speaker Bankole’s threat that the PDP used MOPOL in 2007 and that in the re-run election they will make use of Soldiers to rig is not only an admittance that the PDP is not popular in Ekiti State and in Nigeria as a whole, but admittance of an imminent defeat.

We hereby call on his colleagues in the House of Representative to call Speaker Bankole to order. We now know whom to hold responsible if there is breakdown of law and order in Ekiti State before, during and after the election because the entire youth of the State will resist any attempt to rig should the Soldiers be deployed to Ekiti State.

"If any of our innocent people is killed during the election, Speaker Bankole and his family will pay heavily for it".

We also call on the people of Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Osun etc to prevail on their Governors not to use their money to finance a failed project in Ekiti State. Those monies should be use to better the lots of the people of their states instead of dabbling to what they know nothing about. The good people of Ekiti State should be extra-vigilant this time around and resist any attempt to intimidate them through the use of Soldiers during the election as promised by Speaker Bankole. We did not know when Bankole becomes the Garrison Commander to be deploying troops to any parts of the country.

Speaker Bankole should be warn and face the problem of the country of which he is the Speaker and that of his state where there have been no sitting in the House of Assembly for the past two months.

Let him go and fix his state and leave Ekiti State alone.
