A Strange Road Revolution in Ekiti
A fraud revolution is currently rocking Ekiti State through the elusive road revolution of the PDP regime. Shortly after the PDP army of occupation captured the State government house in 2007, there was a promise of a road revolution and various extravagant flag off ceremonies became the fashion.
Vans and vehicles of various sizes and brands were purchased for political lackeys who were either appointed as road project committee members and road management agents.
The State PDP regime coerced everyone including traditional fathers to prevail over a hesitant Assembly to appropriate huge sums of money for the phony revolution, ostensibly to accelerate the State infrastructural development.
Two years after appropriation, the construction and rehabilitation of the roads on which these funds were raked had not yet taken off.
These huge sums had gone on ceremonial flag-off celebrations and into the usual large but bottomless private pockets of venal PDP impostors and their political entrepreneurs.
Ekiti State had been plunged into a fiscal hearmorahage with heinous resultant effects of inability to pay as and when due, workers’ salary and glaring hellish state of public utilities.
It is painful and callous that Ikere-Igbara Odo road which had allegedly gulped N212,275, 469.40 is now a death trap, where motorists had turned away from.
The crater lakes that neglect had made of Ijero-Epe-Araromi- Ara road had turned the area into socio-economic Afghanistan, after N277,774, 625.90 had purportedly been splashed on the road.
Iworoko -Are- Afao- Igbemo- Iluomoba road allegedly robbed the treasury of 143, 148, 000, 00 with no signs of human touch.
It is unfortunate to behold the Ilawe-Erinjinyan road which is still a footpath, despite its purported swallowing of a whopping 282, 701, 569.75 of Ekiti State money.
Ikere- Ado-Ekiti , which was dualised by Fayose regime allegedly took its share away from the booty with 284,958,090 to patch imaginary potholes.
The usurpers knife cut through the State’s till and took away 210,462,791 allegedly to sustain a fantasy of Fajuyi- Trade fair dualisation project, a completed project of a former regime.
The list of these is legendary with the unexplainable emptying of the treasury on a solar street light project, illumination of which could not surpass candle light.
Ekiti PDP regime offers a cruel example of how not to run a government. It is a regime that acts on impulse with its political antennae picking wrong signals, thus beaming squalor and pestilence into the domains of hapless masses.
For more than two years, the PDP had been cycling round a ring of failures, incompetence and political rough tackles, expending the State resources to service the unpleasant effects of their obtuse dispositions.
We challenge Ekiti PDP and its scrabbling regime to publish for public appraisal, how the huge resources that accrued to the State from 2007 to date were appropriated. Particularly, we demand for what happened to the roads which flag off ceremonies shook the State with no commissioning festival after two years.
