Former Lagos Airport Hotel MD Declares for Ekiti AC
Chief Bisi Familugba, former Managing Director of Lagos Airport Hotel and Baba Ijo of Anglican Church, Aisegba Ekiti on Saturday November 21, declared for the Action Congress in his Aisegba Ward I, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti-State.
Chief Familugba, a worthy and respected son of Aisegba was accompanied to the venue of the ceremony by his younger brother, Dr. Tope Familugba, a PDP member and a former member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Banji Familugba a former PDP Chairman for Aisegba Ward and about 500 family members, supporters and well wishers who all expressed their solidarity with him.
Extolling the virtues of Chief Bisi Familugba, Mr. Remi Olorunleke and Dr. Omirin, AC chieftains from the ward recalled how Chief Familugba had worked for the progress of the town by assisting many indigenes to secure employment. This made him a respectable leader of Aisegba community who nobody could rubbish. They traced the progressive nature of Chief Familugba to the days of the Unity Party of Nigeria, a party whose programme Chief Familugba identified with and supported.
Admitting Chief Familugba to the AC fold, the AC Local Government party chairman for Gbonyin LGA, Mr. Femi Awe extolled the virtues of the man who he described as a big fish. He enjoined the remaining Aisegba indigenes to be influenced by Chief Familugba’s decision and join the Action Congress. Awe presented him with the AC party membership card in Aisegba ward and he was given the broom which is the symbol of the AC.
Responding, Chief Familugba thanked God for the opportunity to join the AC and said he is happy that he has taken a right decision. He said his joining the AC is not for material gains as he is already satisfied with what God has done for him, but for the development of Ekiti. He said he was disturbed by the precarious state of affairs in the country and Ekiti. According to him, he was encouraged to join the AC by the caliber of leaders in the Action Congress who are in the mould of Chief Obafemi Awolowo whose legacies still endured till today. So he wanted to join the progressive elements in the AC to contribute to the development of Ekiti State and his native Aisegba.
Yemi Adaramodu who represented Dr. Kayode Fayemi at the occasion said joining the AC by Chief Bisi Familugba is an event to be celebrated not only by Aisegba people alone by entire Ekiti State because of his pedigree. He said the joining of AC in Ekiti by Chief Familugba is a symptom of Political end time for the PDP. Adaramodu said, ‘When the right man is about to ascend the throne, credible people like Chief Familugba would herald the glad tidings’. He recalled his encounter with him as a corporate affairs Manager of the Tribune newspapers and how the man was so helpful and approachable which made him a natural progressive.
He said he was happy because he had dreamt that a credible personality such as Chief. Bisi Familugba joined Ekiti AC and that the dream has finally come true. He said the days of the PDP in Ekiti are already numbered. He told the crowd of supporters that God has shown to Ekiti that her days of suffering would soon come to an end as Dr. Fayemi would soon assume his proper position as Ekiti Governor.
